Within Temptation : biografia

Within Temptation se formó en el año 1996. Robert Westerholt, que ya había encontrado una cantante (su novia Sharon den Adel con la que había trabajado en una formación anterior, The Circle), fue el fundador de la banda. En menos de dos meses, les habían ofrecido varios contratos para un sello discográfico, WT decidió firmar con DSFA Records ...y así comenzaron las cosas.
Mother Earth, la revolución
El 2000 acabaría siendo el año de mayores cambios en todos los sentidos (incluso en su formación). La banda fue invitada a tocar en los mayores festivales de los paises del Benelux y en Diciembre de ese año se lanzó el cd "Mother Earth". Fue votado como el "cd del mes" en muchas revistas holandesas de música, alcanzando posiciones altas en las listas de música, mientras el número de fans crecia enormemente por media Europa.
En 2001 la banda realizó varias giras tanto dentro como fuera de Holanda con cerca de 40 conciertos con entradas agotadas y numerosos festivales. Uno de los más brillantes fue en el famoso Pinkpop Festival (100.000 personas). También actuaron en Paris, México, festivales de Bélgica... y dos cd-singles fueron lanzados: Our Farewell y Ice Queen
2002 se convirtió en el año de la explosión de masas. El single Ice Queen alcanzó el número uno tanto en Holanda como en Bélgica convirtiendose Mother Earth en disco de platino en Holanda y oro en Bélgica y en ambos recogieron los premios TMF/MTV Awards. La banda tocó en los festivales mas importantes del Benelux (Ozzfest, Lowlands, Dynamo, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Parkpop),y también en Alemania (Rock im Park, Bizarre, Summerbreeze).En Francia Within Temptation actuó en las principales ciudades (Paris, Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux, Toulon) con todas las entradas agotadas.

El camino hacia el éxito, The Silent Force
Tras tres años de éxito de Mother Earth, la banda se mete en estudio a principios del 2004 para dar forma a su nuevo album (previamente se lanzó un single inédito del cover de los 80 "Running Up That Hill"). Para el nuevo cd la banda contó con el apoyo de un coro ruso, una orquesta y una cuidadisima producción siendo el resultado "The Silent Force". Un trabajo que se abre a nuevos sonidos y con el que asaltaron los mercados europeos gracias a singles como "Stand My Ground" y gracias al cual prepararon su definitivo salto al mercado anglosajón.


La consagración: The Heart of Everything
Tras el éxito cosechado con TSF, que les lleva a tocar desde el Reino Unido a Japón y a dar un gran concierto en Java Island, que posteriormente se editaría como DVD, la banda prepara su siguiente trabajo con las vistas puestas a asaltar el tan complejo mercado americano, fichando por Roadrunner Records para su distribucion anglosajona. El resultado es "The Heart of Eveything", cuyo primer single "What Have You Done?", en el que colabora Keith Caputo cantante de Life of Agony, les acerca a un sonido más anglosajón pero sin perder su propia identidad. El album alcanza rapidamente el numero uno en su pais natal y arrasa en media Europa. Es sin duda el album de la consagración en el que la voz de Sharon alcanza registros y matices hasta ahora ineditos y donde la banda cuida al máximo tanto el sonido como su diseño (con una cuidada portada y formato). La gira posterior les lleva tanto a recorrer Europa como Reino Unido y EE.UU, donde tocan junto a Lacuna Coil y posteriormente en solitario cosechando gran exito de crítica y publico.
En definitiva, en diez años la banda ha recorrido un largo camino lleno de trabajo y buen hacer superándose con cada album y experimentando con su sonido sin llegar a perder su propia identidad, haciéndoles llegar a lo más alto.

Biografia -Evanescence

Having sold nearly 15 million records worldwide, more than 6 million in the U.S. alone, and earning two Grammys® with their major-label debut Fallen, Evanescence continue their meteoric rise with their latest effort, The Open Door (Wind-up Records). The Open Door debuted at the top of the Billboard charts selling more than 447,000 units in its first week and reached platinum status in just over a month. The album is defined by Amy Lee’s beautiful melodies, compelling lyrics, poignant piano and stunning vocals, fused with Terry Balsamo’s urgent yet intricate guitar to form a seamless, ethereal mixture that perfectly channels the band’s hard rock and classical sensibilities.
“Making this record was really intense,” explains Lee. “Terry suffered a stroke in October after recording his guitar parts and thankfully continues to recover, we got a new manager [Andy Lurie at 110 Management in Los Angeles], and I’d come out of a difficult breakup. But everything we’ve been through together has benefited this album.” With Fallen, says Lee, the band had much to prove while defining its identity. This time, finding a cohesive writing partner in Terry Balsamo, “we really took our time crafting this album and had the freedom to express a broader range of emotions: not just pain and sadness, but also anger and, yes, even happiness.”
Written late in 2005, The Open Door was recorded at The Record Plant in Los Angeles and mixed at Ocean Way Studios in March 2006. Marking the return of producer Dave Fortman, the album’s musical elements include a classically-infused choir and strings on several tracks, giving further color to songs of introspection, longing, doubt, self-respect and, ultimately, empowerment. The album opens with “Sweet Sacrifice,” a post-relationship catharsis that head-dives from an otherworldly intro into a hard-driving thrash of hard rock guitars and soaring rock vocals. Its first single, the mid-tempo “Call Me When You’re Sober,” reinforces the moving-away-from-dysfunction theme.
Other standout tracks on The Open Door include the second single, “Lithium,” which embraces feeling over numbness, “All That I’m Living For,” Lee’s tribute to band life, “Weight of the World,” her plea for perspective from the expectation of young fans, and “Good Enough,” a string-and-choir-infused closer distinguished as the band’s first truly (almost) contented song (“It feels really good ending the album this way,” says Lee).
Its tour began immediately after the debut of The Open Door, rewarding hardcore fans with a “sneak peak” at the album with handful of more intimate theater dates in the US and Europe before segueing into much larger arena shows at the end of 2006. Since the album’s release, the band has performed in front of well in excess of one million fans in more than 25 countries, including the US, Canada, France, UK, Spain, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Russia, Israel, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
As The Open Door nears sales of 2 million copies in the U.S. and more than 4 million copies worldwide, Evanescence will headline a North American tour, including 3 arena shows in Mexico, this Fall. The tour will begin October 23rd in Miami and conclude on or about December 10th. With the recent additions of Dark New Day’s (Warner Bros. Records) Will Hunt on drums and Troy McLawhorn on guitar, Evanescence is poised to finish up 2007 with a bang. Evanescence has chosen Australian modern rock trio Sick Puppies and electronic rock act Julien-K to support them on the tour.

El génesis de Lacuna Coil se inicia en Milán en 1994, cuando el guitarrista y compositor Marco Coti Zelati y su amigo, Andrea Ferro, forman la banda Sleep of Right. Coti tocaba la guitarra, Ferro el bajo y Raffaele Zagaria se une como guitarrista y Michelangelo como baterista. La banda tocó su primera presentación en vivo en Bologna, Italia en 1994. Grabaron Bleeding Souls, el cual fue publicado en 1995 en el disco compilatorio Noise of Bolgia.
Coti empieza a tocar el bajo, así Andrea se concentró como vocalista. Se les unió Claudio Leo, como segunda guitarra, y Leonardo Forti como baterista; luego de la partida de Michelangelo. Su siguiente decisión fue incorporar a Cristina Scabbia, amiga de ellos, para que cante algunas canciones. Debido a que Scabbia complementaba muy bien la banda, fue incluida como un miembro permanente.
Luego de la unión de Scabbia como vocalista de la banda, esta cambia su nombre a Ethereal y en mayo de 1996 graban y envían un demo, de dos canciones, Shallow End y Frozen Feeling, a diversas disqueras europeas. La banda recibe respuestas de Nuclear Blast y Century Media; luego deciden sellar el trato con Century Media y descubren que el nombre Ethereal ya había sido tomado por una banda griega. La banda, en aquel entonces formada por Scabbia, Ferro, Coti Zelati, Leo, Zagaria y Forti, decide nombrarse Lacuna Coil, que significa "espiral vació".

Biografia - Insomnium

The path that led into the dark...
Insomnium began to took shape during the bleak spring of 1997. In a quiet town of Joensuu, located in the easternmost part of Finland, four young men were forming a fierce metal band. From the beginning it was clear that this band would make music that was brutal and yet melodic, full of contrasts and changing atmospheres. They took what they regarded as the best aspects of their favourite bands and moulded these influences into a new kind of entity. The result was the marriage of melodic Scandinavian death metal and traditional Finnish tunes. Lyrics turn out to be sorrowful, dream-like tales of love and death that usually took place amidst the Finnish nature. Influences were taken from the Finnish folklore as well as the world literature.
After two years of intensive training Insomnium made their first demo-cd, which received praises from all over the world. Second demo was made the following year and it gained a lot of attention as well. This time the record companies got interested too. In the beginning of 2001 founding members, guitarist Ville Friman, drummer Markus Hirvonen and bassist/vocalist Niilo Sevänen, attached a new guitarist Ville Vänni to the band. Now Insomnium was stronger than ever and ready to rise to the next level. A deal with Candlelight was signed in the same spring and recording of the first album began in the summer.
- In the Halls of Awaiting - was released in April 2002 and it introduced a band that had evolved in many ways. The legacy of the Scandinavian death metal was still the core of the music but new layers had appeared around it. There were more nuances and depth in the songs, and the music was more versatile and challenging than before. Progressive shades had crept into the songs, and in many ways the band had stepped aside from the mainstream of melodic death metal. Debut album received excellent reviews in many magazines around the globe, especially in Germany, Finland and North America. The recording of the second album began in summer 2003. The process was somewhat painful but finally in December the new album was ready. - Since the Day It All Came Down - continues the development that the first album began. Songs are more versatile and surprising, progressive influences are ever clearer. Some tracks may even be described as experimental. But the straightforward side of the music hasn´t gone anywhere, since catchy guitar-harmonies, crushing riffs and soothing acoustic interludes are all still there. Melodies are still the most essential element in the music of Insomnium, but this time the tunes are even more melancholic and wistful than on the debut. This is a sad and dreary album, heavier and gloomier than the first one, and undoubtedly more challenging. So when you take this path, keep in mind that it takes a while before your eyes get used to the dark...

Biografia-Teräsbetoni

Teräsbetoni on neljän pirkanmaalaistaistelijan muodostama yhtye, joka vaalii hevimusiikin perinteitä ja voittoisaa soturihenkeä. Bändin tuorein levy Myrskyntuoja julkaistiin 19.3.2008 ja sen ensimmäinen singlelohkaisu Missä miehet ratsastaa on myös Suomen edustuskappale tämän vuoden Euroviisuissa.
Teräsbetoni sai alkunsa vuonna 2003, kun samoihin illanviettoihin eksyneet J.Ahola, A.Järvinen ja V.Rantanen huomasivat yhteisen intohimon: kaikki pitivät vanhan liiton hevimusiikista. Syntyi bändiprojekti, jonka musiikillisesta linjasta ei ollut epäselvyyttä. Jotain uuttakin haluttiin mukaan tuoda ja niin laulukieleksi valikoitu suomi. Nimiehdotuksista sopivimmalta vaikutti Teräsbetoni, koska se olisi kyllin vahvaa Metallivaltion perustan valamiseen. Ensidemolle rumpuja soittamaan kutsuttiin J.Kuokkanen ja näin kokoonpano oli valmis. Demo sisälsi kappaleet Teräsbetoni, Teräksen varjo ja Maljanne nostakaa. Kotisivut lanseerattiin kesäksi 2003. Kappaleita ladattiin uskomattomia määriä ja bändi herätti kiivasta kommentointia niin puolesta kuin vastaankin. Kuten vieläkin. Muutamalla ensimmäisellä keikalla meininki alkoi yltyä entisestään.
Demon kuunneltuaan Warner Musicin Osku Ketola soitti. Lukuisten tapaamisten jälkeen levytyssopimus kirjoitettiin, kun levy-yhtiö oli vielä päässyt vakuuttumaan myös Teräsbetonin hurmiollisista live-esiintymisistä. Talvella 2004-2005 yhtye linnoittautui metallituottajaguru Anssi Kipon johdolla äänittämään esikoislevyään Metallitotuus. Tästä esimakua antoi Taivas lyö tulta –debyyttisingle, joka oli moniviikkoinen singlelistan ykkönen ja myi lopulta kultaa. Metallitotuus puri ihmisiin platinamyynnin arvoisesti ja kesän isot festarikeikat saivat ihmiset julistamaan sanomaa paidatta pitkin Suomea.
Teräsbetonin toinen levy, kultamyyntiin yltänyt Vaadimme metallia oli alan velhon, Hiili Hiilesmaan tuottama. Levy jatkoi Metallitotuuden viitoittamaa tietä, mutta nyt soturin elämään upottiin entistä syvemmälle. Bändi kiersi ahkerasti ja keikkoja myytiin loppuun edelleen Suomen eri kolkissa. Kolmas levy, huolellisesti valmisteltu Myrskyntuoja näki päivänvalon keväällä 2008 ja Teräsbetonilla on edessään jälleen lukuisia taisteluja, joissa viholliset lyödään ja omien kanssa kohotetaan kuohuvat maljat!

Biografia - Anvil of doom

Originarios de Jerez de la Frontera, Anvil of Doom comienza su historia actual en 2002, cuando tras varios años de actividad underground y varios cambios de formación hasta conseguir una base sólida, el grupo entró en el estudio local "Wykyn 'n Morkyn" para grabar su primera demo, "Died Before Dawn". Este trabajo consiguió un gran éxito entre los seguidores de la banda y permitió que, en abril de 2003, Anvil of Doom firmara un contrato discográfico con la compañía Xtreem Music.
A lo largo de 2003, Anvil of Doom trabaja en temas para su primer trabajo, a la vez que aumenta su experiencia en vivo, dando conciertos por Andalucía acompañados de grupos de la zona, así como compartiendo cartel con mitos nacionales como Barón Rojo, Soziedad Alkohólika o Avulsed. Participan también en el Xtreem Music Festival celebrado en Madrid, junto a bandas de la talla de Exodus, Nuclear Assault o Grave.
En enero de 2004 comienza la grabación de su primer disco, "Deathillusion", en los mismos estudios "Wykyn 'n Morkyn". El álbum refleja una clara evolución musical del grupo hacia un Death Metal más técnico, sin dejar nunca de lado la melodía que les identifica. El álbum vería la luz en octubre de 2004, y desde entonces ha recibido muy buenas críticas en medios nacionales e internacionales. Tras terminar la grabación y mezcla del disco, el grupo vuelve a los escenarios, no sólo en Andalucía, sino también más allá de sus fronteras.
Anvil of Doom continúa tocando en directo, habiendo compartido cartel con grupos internacionales como Testament, Megadeth, Helloween, Kreator, Annihilator o Blind Guardian. Además de participar en eventos de la talla de The Metalway Festival o Xtreem Music Festival, la banda ha encabezado cartel en varios festivales como el I Andalusian Extreme Metal Fest o el Akople Rock, entre otros.
Anvil of Doom ha aparecido en numerosos programas de radio, magazines y e-zines, tanto españoles como extranjeros, así como críticas de conciertos en Heavy Rock Magazine y Kerrang!.
Además de tocar en directo, durante 2007 Anvil of Doom se centra en preparar nuevos temas, que constituirán su futuro segundo trabajo. Sin embargo, a finales de ese año, Beltrán deja el grupo por diferencias musicales respecto a la evolución de la banda. Unos meses después, en marzo de 2008, Salvi se marcha también, quedando el grupo provisionalmente como trío mientras se buscan nuevos componentes. El proceso creativo de Anvil of Doom continúa con la intención de grabar una demo con temas nuevos como preparación de su esperado segundo álbum.
